Belarus will continue all-round cooperation with China, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated at the meeting with Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wen Jiabao on November 5. The head of state stressed: “We are proud of our relations with China who shows stunning successes in all areas”. Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus established cooperation with China during the period when the country was “rising from its knees”. “I believe that for the 15 years of diplomatic cooperation the People’s Republic of China made sure that Belarus is a reliable friend of the Chinese nation. I want to assure that the country will adhere to this course in the future,” the Belarusian leader said. The President thanked China for political, economic and diplomatic support of Belarus. Wen Jiabao stressed that Belarus was one of the important areas of China’s foreign policy. “Our relations are based on principles of respect and equality therefore they will stand all the tests,” China’s Prime Minister said. He also expressed hope that his visit will promote exchange of opinions and give a new impetus to strengthening of the Belarusian-Chinese friendship.
