Alexander Lukashenko: upcoming sitting of Union State Supreme State Council to become milestone in accelerating unification of two states

President of Belarus considers that a sitting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State due in November will “become a milestone in accelerating unification of the two states”, the head of the Belarusian state said during a meeting with chairman of the government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Fradkov. The meeting took place before the opening of the first Belarusian-Russian economic forum in Minsk.

As Alexander Lukashenko stressed “we have agreed with president of Russia Vladimir Putin that in November we will take effort to resolve the issue on the constitutional act of the Union State”. Therefore, the sitting of the Union State Council of Ministers will be of great importance as the issues it is set to discuss will have an impact on the settlement of other problems in the union construction.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked Mikhail Fradkov for support and efficient economic cooperation. The president of Belarus considers that this is the area where the two countries have most positive results. The head of state underlined that a number of projects in the energy sphere will be considered. First of all, this is the construction of new gas lines and pipe line modernization. Such projects are lucrative for Belarus and Russia alike, Alexander Lukashenko underlined.
