Alexander Lukashenko: it is necessary to disarm to make world safer

26 April 2006
In order to make the world safer and free of nuclear threat it is necessary to disarm, president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes. When speaking to reporters today during a working trip to Gomel oblast the head of state noted: “If we want to have safe and nuclear-free world, let us disarm”. Yet if some countries are menaced by others, they will have to protect themselves and their people, the Belarusian leader noted. According to him, Iran is one of the richest and ambitious countries. “Of course, looking at the neighboring countries they strive for that,” the president said. The head of state spoke against spreading of this ‘disease’. According to him, it is necessary to look for the root of the evil. According to him, the dominant countries are trying to divide and reshape the world by assaulting other countries and destroying them. “This is the problem which worries me most,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
