729 Belarusians over 100 years old

As of April 1, 2006 there were 729 Belarusians aged over 100, Svetlana Yermakovich, consultant of the veterans and elderly affairs department of the central state social security agency of the Belarusian labour and social security ministry, told BelTA.
She noted, there are more women than men among Belarusian long-livers. It is women who are the oldest Belarusians as well. Those are Minsk resident Anna Adamovna Borisevich, born in 1888 (July 1, 2005 saw her turn 117). In 1889 resident of Molodechno town Anna Pavlovna Ragel was born, 1890 – Stefanida Mikhailovna Brichkovskaya of Novogrudok district.
Grodno region is the leader in the number of long-livers (186 people over 100 years old). Then comes Minsk region (144), Brest region (100), Vitebsk region (98), Gomel region (78), Mogilev region (73), and Minsk (50).
