Mozyrsol doubles its daily salt supplies to Russia
21 February 2006
This fortnight the joint stock company Mozyrsol (Gomel oblast) has been daily exporting about 350 tons of white salt to Russia, what exceeds the volumes envisaged by the February contracts two times. The supplies have increased due to the enormous demand for salt in the central oblasts of the Russian Federation, BelTA was informed by Mozyrol director Mikhail Litvin.
According to him, the production facilities of the company have been completely utilized since the middle of 2005, this is why Mozyrsol can increase supplies to Russia only by reducing its exports to Western-European countries. It is not always profitable, Mikhail Litvin noted. Nevertheless, till the end of the month the shipping volumes to Russia will not be changed. Moreover, the salt sale price is kept for the Russian Federation at the level of January in spite of the growing demand.
Mozyrsol is the leader in production of salt “extra” in the CIS and Eastern Europe. Its capacity is 360 thousand tons per annum. The principal type of slat produced is salt “extra” Polesye. On the basis of this product the company manufactures salt rich in iodine, fluorine and preventive salt Belorusskaya. Besides, Mozyrsol produces salt in tablets and pickle-nitrite salt.
The company was founded in 1982. In 1997 it was jointstockisized. Mozyrsol employs over one thousand people.
In 2005 the enterprise exported 302 thousand tons of salt to 18 countries, up by 10.5 per cent from the previous year.
