Mozyr Oil Refinery to get Azerbaijani oil in April

24 March 2011
MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Pumped through the Odessa-Brody pipeline, Azeri Light oil variety is now at the Ukrainian pump station Brody. Mozyr Oil Refinery will get the oil in April 2011, BelTA learned from Sergei Sosnovsky, Acting Director General of Mozyr Oil Refinery. In his words, the exact date will be revealed after Belarusian Oil Company, Ukrtransnafta, Gomeltransneft Druzhba and Mozyr Oil Refinery have agreed the delivery schedule. “Oil is pumped in a routine manner now. At present they continue displacing the process oil of the Urals variety from the Odessa-Brody-Mozyr pipeline,” said Sergei Sosnovsky. In February-March Mozyr Oil Refinery received 450,000 tonnes of the Urals oil variety and will have to get about 600,000 tonnes more in order to start receiving the Azeri Light oil variety. The pumping of the Azeri Light oil variety to Mozyr Oil Refinery via the Odessa-Brody pipeline and the Mozyr-Brody section of the Druzhba pipeline began on 13 February 2011. Belarusian Oil Company and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have signed the oil delivery contract. In line with the contract up to 4 million tonnes of oil will be supplied in 2011. The oil will be delivered to the Ukrainian sea port Yuzhny to be pumped via the Odessa-Brody pipeline and the Druzhba pipeline to Mozyr Oil Refinery. The contract to use the Odessa-Brody pipeline has been signed by Belarusian Oil Company and Ukrtransnafta. Belarus will get Azerbaijani oil and Venezuelan oil at the same time. BelTA reported earlier that the test delivery of 80,000 tonnes of oil via the Odessa-Brody pipeline and the Mozyr-Brody section of the Druzhba pipeline took place in November 2010. The Odessa-Brody pipeline was built to diversify oil supplies to Ukraine. It is part of the Euro-Asian oil transportation corridor. It connects the Pivdenny terminal (Odessa Oblast) and the Brody main oil pumping station (Lviv Oblast). Its length stands at 674km, the diameter is 1,020mm, with the designed throughput capacity of 14.5 million tonnes per annum. The open joint-stock company Gomeltransneft Druzhba is the legal successor of the enterprise Gomeltransneft Druzhba. The latter was re-organized into an open joint-stock company in late 2010. The company enables the transit of Russian and Kazakh oil to Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and Czechia, the delivery of Russian and Belarusian oil to Mozyr Oil Refinery and the export of Belarusian oil. Gomeltransneft Druzhba’s pipelines are part of the system of transcontinental oil pipelines Druzhba. Mozyr Oil Refinery was founded in 1975 and re-incorporated into an open joint stock company in 1994. The government share in the company’s authorized fund stands at 42.7%, that of NGK Slavneft 42.6%, with other shareholders accounting for 14.7%. The company specializes in processing oil, manufacturing and selling oil products. Certified products account for about 95% of the total output.
